What this trial studies
This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of an attachment-based intervention, specifically the Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-Up (ABC) program and the Home Book-of-the-Week (HBOW) program, on health outcomes in low-income Latino children aged 9 months to 23 months. A total of 260 infants will be enrolled, with mothers participating in the study for approximately 15 months. The trial will assess various health outcomes, including common childhood illnesses, body mass index, and sleep quality, while also examining maternal sensitivity and child stress regulation as mediators of the intervention's effects. Participants will be recruited from the Children's Medical Practice at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and the study is expected to be completed in 5 years.
