What this trial studies

Rising cesarean rates in Egypt have been linked in part to declining use and experience with operative vaginal delivery. This observational survey uses a questionnaire administered to obstetricians at three tertiary hospitals in Cairo to collect attitudes, reported practices, and perceived barriers to assisted vaginal birth. Participants must have at least three years of obstetric experience and primarily practice at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital, El Hussein University Hospital, or El Kasr Alaini Hospital. The goal is to identify practical training or system changes that could increase assisted vaginal delivery and reduce second-stage cesarean sections.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Obstetricians with at least three years’ experience who primarily practice at one of the three participating tertiary hospitals in Cairo are eligible.

Not a fit: Patients whose providers work outside the three participating tertiary centers or in settings where training or institutional changes are not adopted may not benefit from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could lead to training or policy changes that increase assisted vaginal births and reduce second-stage cesarean deliveries.

How similar studies have performed: Previous surveys and training programs in other countries have shown that improved training and experience can increase operative vaginal delivery and help lower cesarean rates, so this approach builds on existing evidence.
