What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the prevalence of Long COVID-19 among individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Canary Islands. It will involve a cross-sectional descriptive approach, where patients experiencing symptoms for at least 12 weeks post-infection will undergo physical-functional evaluations conducted by trained physiotherapists. The study will utilize both self-completed questionnaires and assessments by evaluators to gather comprehensive data on the impact of Long COVID on patients' daily lives. Statistical analysis will be performed using IBM SPSS software to summarize and interpret the findings.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 and have experienced persistent symptoms for at least 12 weeks.

Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing comorbidities that mimic Long COVID symptoms, such as fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of Long COVID and improve post-acute care strategies for affected patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have indicated the significant prevalence and impact of Long COVID, suggesting that this approach is relevant and necessary.
