What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the impact of identifying sleep disturbances in patients visiting orthopedic specialists. It involves enrolling adult patients who report some level of sleep disturbance and comparing outcomes between those whose clinicians are informed of their sleep issues and those who are not. The study will measure patient satisfaction, perceived empathy, and engagement in healthcare, as well as explore the potential for interventions like cognitive behavioral therapy based on sleep assessment results.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are new patients at an orthopedic clinic and report a sleep disturbance score greater than 3.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to read or have cognitive impairments that prevent them from completing the questionnaires will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance patient care by improving treatment outcomes for orthopedic patients through better management of sleep disturbances.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study may be novel, there is existing literature suggesting that addressing sleep disturbances can positively impact patient outcomes in various healthcare settings.
