What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the prevalence of psychiatric disorders among pregnant women during their second trimester ultrasound. It employs a prospective multicenter approach, utilizing standardized clinical assessments and self-administered questionnaires to identify at least one psychiatric disorder as defined by the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI). The study addresses the under-diagnosis of psychiatric conditions during pregnancy, a critical period of vulnerability for women. By focusing on this population, the research seeks to improve understanding and treatment of mental health issues in pregnant women.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 18 and over who are pregnant and attending a scheduled second trimester ultrasound.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to understand French or are underage may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better identification and treatment of psychiatric disorders in pregnant women, improving maternal mental health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While many studies have focused on postpartum depression, this study's approach to assessing psychiatric disorders during pregnancy is relatively novel and underexplored.
