What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of late FDG-PET images in improving the sensitivity of lymph node staging in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer. It compares the results of standard PET images taken one hour after radiotracer injection with those taken 2.5 hours later. Patients will undergo 18FDG PET-CT scans at Hôpital Foch, where their fasting status and blood glucose levels will be monitored prior to the procedure. The study focuses on patients with histologically confirmed muscle-invasive bladder cancer who are scheduled for initial extension workup.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with histologically proven muscle-invasive bladder cancer scheduled for 18FDG PET-CT.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of pelvic or genitourinary cancer, known metastatic disease, or contraindications to 18FDG PET-CT may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more accurate staging of bladder cancer, potentially improving treatment outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have not been extensively documented, indicating a potential for novel findings.
