What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the changes in empathy levels among adults with substance use disorders before and after they undergo residential treatment. It aims to understand the relationship between empathy and treatment outcomes, as impairments in empathy can negatively affect therapeutic alliances and increase relapse rates. By identifying how treatment impacts empathetic abilities, the study seeks to enhance the effectiveness of interventions for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The research is conducted at Recovery Unplugged Addiction Treatment Centers in Florida.
