What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of aromatherapy on fatigue and sleep quality among intensive care nurses. It employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews and a quantitative randomized controlled trial. Nurses experiencing fatigue and sleep issues will receive aromatherapy treatments using a mixture of chamomile and lavender oil or vetiver oil for four weeks, with sessions occurring daily before bedtime. The study aims to assess both the subjective experiences of the nurses and the measurable impacts on their fatigue and sleep quality.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Turkish-speaking intensive care nurses who experience moderate to severe fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Not a fit: Patients who are allergic to the oils used in the aromatherapy or those with chronic diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the well-being and performance of intensive care nurses by improving their sleep quality and reducing fatigue.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific application of aromatherapy in this context may be novel, similar studies have shown positive outcomes in using aromatherapy for fatigue and sleep quality in various populations.
