What this trial studies

This is an observational study comparing goals set by patients, caregivers, and physical therapists with actual outcomes after a conventional rehabilitation program. Adults aged 18–75 who had an ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke within the past six months and their caregivers are enrolled. The study documents expectations and goal attainment without changing routine clinical care. Results will be used to inform goal-setting practices in post-stroke rehabilitation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18–75 who had an ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke within the past six months, have a caregiver aged 18–75, have no other neurological or psychiatric conditions, and are willing to participate.

Not a fit: Patients more than six months after stroke, those younger than 18 or older than 75, those with additional neurological or psychiatric conditions, or those unwilling to participate are unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians and families set more realistic, patient-centered rehabilitation goals and improve satisfaction with care.

How similar studies have performed: Previous research has shown that caregivers and patients often overestimate recovery and that clearer goal-setting can improve rehabilitation focus, so this work builds on established findings rather than introducing an untested approach.
