Analyzing serum metabolites in women with and without gestational diabetes

Serum Metabolomics Analysis for Early Diagnosis and Pathogenesis of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

Observational Zhejiang University · NCT05881616

What this trial studies

This observational study collects serum samples from healthy non-pregnant women and pregnant women with and without Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). The aim is to analyze metabolite changes among these groups using clinical metabolomics to identify potential biomarkers and metabolic pathways. The findings could provide scientific evidence for early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of GDM. The study focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of GDM through detailed metabolomic profiling.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include healthy non-pregnant women and pregnant women without a history of diabetes or other significant health issues.

Not a fit: Patients with pregnancy complications, critical illnesses, or those undergoing artificial insemination or IVF may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved early diagnosis and management of gestational diabetes, enhancing maternal and fetal health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using metabolomics in GDM is gaining interest, this specific study's methodology is relatively novel and not extensively tested in prior research.
