What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to analyze intracardiac atrial electrogram waveform periodicity in patients suffering from persistent atrial fibrillation. It employs a prospective randomized controlled design using the OCTARAY™ Mapping Catheter to identify critical atrial substrates that contribute to the condition. The study hypothesizes that non-linear electrogram morphology analysis can enhance the understanding of atrial fibrillation sources, potentially leading to improved outcomes in catheter ablation procedures.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with persistent atrial fibrillation who are refractory or intolerant to medication.

Not a fit: Patients who have previously undergone AF ablation or have significant comorbidities such as poor renal function may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective catheter ablation techniques for patients with persistent atrial fibrillation.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of analyzing waveform periodicity is innovative, previous studies have indicated that similar mapping techniques may correlate with better outcomes, suggesting potential for success.
