Analyzing gene expression in gastric adenocarcinoma

Exploring the Transcriptomic Signatures and Their Relevance in Gastric Adenocarcinoma

Observational Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences · NCT05319392

What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on gastric adenocarcinoma (GAC), a type of stomach cancer with a low survival rate. It aims to profile the transcriptome of tumor and adjacent normal tissues to identify differentially expressed genes related to the tumor microenvironment (TME). The study will involve both retrospective and prospective data collection from patients undergoing gastric resection. Tissue samples will be analyzed using next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics to uncover gene signatures that may correlate with patient survival outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma who have undergone total or partial gastrectomy and have available follow-up data.

Not a fit: Patients with tumors originating in the proximal part of the stomach or those with only biopsy samples will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the identification of gene signatures that improve understanding of gastric adenocarcinoma and potentially enhance treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on gene expression in gastric cancer, this specific approach focusing on the tumor microenvironment is relatively novel.
