What this trial studies

This study collects data from patients who underwent surgical treatment for impending or pathological fractures of the proximal femur due to bone metastases between 2000 and 2023. It focuses on analyzing outcomes from various surgical interventions, including intramedullary nails and prosthetic reconstructions. The investigators will review medical records, radiological imaging, and histological data to assess the effectiveness of these treatments. Approximately 600 patients are expected to be included in the analysis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult patients aged 18 and older who have undergone surgery for fractures due to bone metastases of the proximal femur.

Not a fit: Patients with fractures due to primary bone tumors will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve treatment strategies for patients with bone metastases, leading to better surgical outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar surgical approaches for bone metastases, indicating a potential for meaningful insights from this analysis.
