Analysis of glioblastoma multiforme and normal brain tissue
Integrative Analysis of Human Glioblastoma Multiforme
This study is trying to understand glioblastoma multiforme by comparing the proteins and genes in tumor tissue with those in normal brain tissue to see what makes the cancer different.

What this trial studies
This study conducts an integrative analysis of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) by examining the proteomes of paired normal brain tissues and GBM. It involves sequencing transcriptomes, performing whole exome sequencing, and conducting single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array profiling on samples that include normal brain tissue, primary GBM carcinoma, and its synchronous matched metastasis. Additionally, it analyzes genomic data from GBM previously characterized by The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to facilitate integrated proteogenomic analyses.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 75 years or younger with histologically confirmed GBM and a WHO performance status of 0 or 1.
Not a fit: Patients over the age of 75, those with severe major organ dysfunction, or those who have received prior cancer chemotherapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of GBM biology and lead to improved treatment strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing integrative analyses of cancer genomics have shown promise, indicating potential success for this approach.
