What this trial studies

This program involves older adults participating in exercise videos twice a week for eight weeks, either with a peer from their age group or a younger adult, while engaging in video chats. Participants will complete assessments at the start, after eight weeks, and at sixteen weeks to evaluate the program's effectiveness. An initial meeting with an Exercise Physiologist will help tailor the exercise experience to individual preferences. The study aims to enhance social connectedness, decrease loneliness, and improve overall well-being through structured physical activity.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include older adults aged 65 and above and younger adults aged 18-30 who have access to the necessary technology for participation.

Not a fit: Patients currently diagnosed with dementia may not benefit from this program due to cognitive impairments.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce feelings of loneliness and improve the physical and mental well-being of older adults.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results in using intergenerational approaches to combat loneliness, suggesting this method may be effective.
