Albanian versions of upper/lower limb, pain, autonomy, and quality-of-life questionnaires

Cross-cultural Adaptation, Translation and Validation of the Assessment Scales of the Upper and Lower Limbs, Pain, Autonomy and Quality of Life for Use in the Albanian-speaking Population

Observational Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia · NCT06685094

This project will test Albanian translations of questionnaires about arm and leg function, pain, independence, and quality of life with about 300 Albanian-speaking people who have musculoskeletal problems.

What this trial studies

The project follows international cross-cultural adaptation methods including forward translation, back-translation, committee review, and pilot diffusion before full data collection. Researchers will administer a battery of validated questionnaires covering upper and lower limb function, pain, autonomy, and general health to roughly 300 participants. Psychometric properties will be measured via test-retest reliability (stability) and internal consistency (homogeneity). Results will determine whether the translated instruments perform reliably for Albanian-speaking populations.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are native Albanian speakers with musculoskeletal complaints such as upper or lower limb injury, back pain, rheumatologic symptoms, functional imbalance, or scoliosis who can complete questionnaires and attend the study site.

Not a fit: People who are not native Albanian speakers, those with severe lumbar or hip trauma, tumors, metabolic disease, or those unable to complete written questionnaires are unlikely to benefit from participating.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, clinicians and researchers will have validated Albanian patient-reported outcome tools to measure function, pain, and quality of life more accurately.

How similar studies have performed: Many prior cross-cultural translations of these kinds of patient-reported outcome measures have been successfully validated in other languages, though individual instruments sometimes require local adjustments.
