AI-supported flipped learning for breast self-examination
IMPACT OF AN AI-SUPPORTED FLIPPED LEARNING MODEL ON NURSING STUDENTS' BREAST SELF-EXAMINATION KNOWLEDGE AND PERFORMANCE: A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL

What this trial studies
This interventional program delivers breast self-examination (BSE) education using a flipped-classroom format enhanced with AI-driven personalized feedback and digital learning materials. Participants are second-year nursing undergraduates without prior BSE training who will complete preparatory digital modules followed by practical sessions. Outcomes will focus on changes in BSE knowledge, skill performance, and students' readiness to teach BSE in the community. The model aims to increase active learning, practical application rates, and digital literacy among future nurses.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are second-year nursing undergraduates at Baskent University who have not previously received breast examination training and who provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Those who already have prior BSE training, have health problems preventing participation, or who withdraw consent are unlikely to gain benefit from the program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, nursing students may gain stronger BSE skills and confidence, which could lead to better public education and earlier detection of breast abnormalities.
How similar studies have performed: Flipped learning and AI-augmented educational approaches have shown improvements in nursing education and clinical skills generally, but direct evidence specifically for BSE training is limited.
