What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effect of an artificial intelligence (AI)-supported preoperative education program on reducing fear and anxiety in women scheduled for total mastectomy due to breast cancer. It is a randomized controlled trial with two groups: one receiving AI-supported education and the other receiving standard preoperative education. The primary outcomes focus on measuring changes in surgical fear and anxiety levels among participants. The research will take place at Acıbadem International Hospital between 2024 and 2025.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are literate female patients over 18 years old, diagnosed with breast cancer, and scheduled for total mastectomy.
Not a fit: Patients with active psychiatric disorders or those unable to communicate in Turkish may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce anxiety and fear in patients undergoing mastectomy, improving their overall surgical experience.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI in patient education is emerging, this specific approach to reducing surgical anxiety in mastectomy patients is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
