What this trial studies
Forty women with both polycystic ovary syndrome and asthma will be assigned to two groups of 20 for a 12‑week program. One group will follow a low‑calorie diet and daily metformin, while the other group will do the same plus 40 minutes of treadmill walking three times per week. Participants with significant cardiac, renal, or liver disease are excluded. The trial compares the effects of diet plus medication with and without structured exercise over three months.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Obese (class I) women who have diagnoses of both PCOS and asthma and no serious cardiac, kidney, or liver disease.
Not a fit: Women with significant cardiac, renal, or hepatic disease or those unable to perform regular exercise may not benefit or be eligible.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, adding regular exercise could improve both respiratory symptoms and metabolic features of PCOS in affected women.
How similar studies have performed: Exercise plus diet has shown benefits separately for PCOS and for asthma in prior work, but combining these approaches specifically in women with both conditions is relatively untested.
