Adding exercise to vitamin D treatment for diabetic men with erectile dysfunction and low vitamin D.

Is There a Benefit From Addition of Exercise in Diabetic Patients With ED Who Complain Low Vitamin D?

Not applicable Interventional Cairo University · NCT07366970

What this trial studies

Forty men with type 2 diabetes, chronic erectile dysfunction (>24 months), and documented vitamin D deficiency will be divided into two groups. Both groups will receive cholecalciferol 200,000 IU every two weeks for 12 weeks, while one group will also do supervised treadmill walking for one hour at moderate intensity three times per week for 12 weeks. Participants with cardiac, respiratory, renal, or liver disease are excluded. The study will track changes in erectile function and vitamin D status over the 12‑week period to compare the added effect of exercise versus vitamin D alone.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are men with type 2 diabetes who have chronic erectile dysfunction for more than 24 months, documented low vitamin D, and who can safely perform moderate exercise without major cardiopulmonary, renal, or liver disease.

Not a fit: Patients with severe heart, lung, kidney, or liver disease, those whose ED is due to non‑modifiable structural or neurological causes, or those unable to exercise are less likely to benefit from the exercise component.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, adding regular moderate exercise to vitamin D replacement could improve erectile function and overall health beyond vitamin D alone.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies show exercise and vitamin D supplementation can each improve metabolic health and some risk factors for sexual dysfunction, but combining supervised exercise with high‑dose vitamin D in diabetic ED is not well studied.
