What this trial studies
This pilot feasibility trial evaluates the HEALthy Beginnings intervention, designed specifically for middle-aged and older homeless women. Participants will engage in nine group sessions focused on health topics and have individual meetings with research team members over three months. The study aims to assess the feasibility of the program and gather qualitative feedback through focus groups after the intervention. The approach combines health promotion with trauma-informed care to address the unique needs of this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 40 and older who are experiencing homelessness or living in transitional housing and have multiple health conditions.
Not a fit: Patients who are not experiencing homelessness or do not have multimorbidity may not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve health outcomes and self-care practices among homeless women.
How similar studies have performed: While similar interventions have been explored, this specific approach targeting middle-aged and older homeless women is relatively novel.
