What this trial studies
Dime La VerDAD is a social media capacity-building initiative designed to empower promotores de salud from the Hispanic community to effectively debunk vaccine misinformation using personal narratives. The program focuses on enhancing the training and self-efficacy of these trusted community members, enabling them to leverage their existing relationships to disseminate accurate health information. Utilizing a mixed methods approach and a stepped wedge design, the study aims to understand and address the impact of misinformation on vaccination rates, particularly in minoritized communities. By fostering communication strategies that emphasize community engagement, the program seeks to improve vaccine confidence and access.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this program are community health workers aged 18 and older who are fluent in English or Spanish and serve specific priority areas in Chicago.
Not a fit: Patients who do not work as promotores de salud, are under 18, or do not have a social media presence may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance vaccine uptake and trust in health information among Hispanic communities.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using community-based approaches to combat misinformation, making this approach both relevant and promising.
