What this trial studies

This study investigates the long-term effects of a multidomain intervention designed for community-dwelling elderly individuals to prevent cognitive decline. Participants will engage in various activities, including music training, physical exercise, and social interactions, over a 9-month period. The study aims to assess changes in Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) levels and cognitive functions through pre- and post-intervention evaluations. Participants will be divided into groups to compare the effects of music-inclusive activities against non-musical and passive control groups.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly individuals aged 65 and older who live independently and are not musically trained.

Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive or functional impairments or those with musical expertise may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance cognitive health and quality of life for elderly individuals by promoting neuroplasticity and reducing frailty.

How similar studies have performed: While similar interventions have shown promise in enhancing cognitive functions and social engagement, this specific approach combining music and multiple activities is relatively novel.
