What this trial studies

Thrive Digital Health is developing the Thrive Digital Peer Platform (TDPP) to standardize and scale training for Peer Recovery Support Service (PRSS) providers. Prospective PRSS providers in the U.S. will be assigned to training-as-usual, a fully asynchronous TDPP course, or TDPP plus live Zoom sessions to compare outcomes. Primary measures include knowledge gain, fidelity/adherence to PRSS methods, and observable skill in delivering recovery support. The program aims to test feasibility, acceptability, and whether the digital platform can deliver superior training outcomes versus typical approaches.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are U.S. adults (18+) preparing to serve as peer recovery supporters who have at least one year of continuous sobriety and can read/speak English and complete online and phone follow-ups.

Not a fit: People who do not meet the sobriety requirement, cannot read or speak English, have active suicidal ideation or severe anxiety, significant medical illness, or lack reliable computer/phone access are unlikely to benefit from participating.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the platform could expand access to standardized, higher-quality peer recovery support by producing more skilled PRSS providers across the country.

How similar studies have performed: Digital training and peer-support programs have shown promise in related settings, but a fully asynchronous, standards-based PRSS training platform with optional live coaching is a relatively novel and less-tested approach.
