What this trial studies

This study evaluates Rosie the Chatbot, an educational tool designed to provide personalized health information to minority women during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the Rosie group, where they can interact with the chatbot for immediate responses to health-related questions, or the Book Club group, which will receive children's books. The study aims to assess whether using the chatbot improves health care seeking behavior and maternal and infant health outcomes. The chatbot operates in both English and Spanish and ensures confidentiality by not collecting personal information.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are racial minority women aged 14 years and older who are pregnant or have an infant under 6 months.

Not a fit: Patients who are non-Hispanic white or younger than 14 years at the time of their child's birth may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this chatbot could enhance health outcomes for mothers and infants by providing timely and accessible health information.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of chatbots in health communication is emerging, this specific approach targeting minority women during pregnancy is relatively novel.
