What this trial studies
Researchers recruit pregnant participants in their third trimester and deliver a structured yoga program designed to follow World Health Organization 2023 guidance. Eligible participants are 18–35 years old, able to read Turkish, and have no prior yoga experience or high-risk pregnancy. Sleep quality and perceived stress are measured before and after the yoga program using standard questionnaire-based outcomes. The study is conducted at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa's hospital and compares participants' pre-intervention and post-intervention status to determine change over the program.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Pregnant people aged 18–35 in their third trimester (29–42 weeks), who can read and write Turkish, are not high risk, and have no prior yoga experience are the intended participants.
Not a fit: People with high-risk or multiple pregnancies, those before the third trimester, or those with physical restrictions that prevent yoga practice are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could improve sleep quality and lower stress levels in late pregnancy, making the remainder of pregnancy more comfortable and potentially reducing stress-related complications.
How similar studies have performed: Previous prenatal yoga studies have reported improvements in sleep and stress with no reported harms, but this trial is novel in applying a yoga program explicitly aligned with WHO 2023 recommendations in the third trimester.
