What this trial studies
This project aims to improve access to health behavior and lifestyle interventions for adolescents and their families affected by chronic diseases like obesity and type 2 diabetes. It involves a 12-session, culturally-adapted program that includes mindfulness training, health education, physical activity, and nutrition education delivered over six weeks. The study focuses on training community facilitators, evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention, and assessing health outcomes among participants aged 11-19. The program is designed to be inclusive and culturally relevant for families in Northern Colorado.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adolescents aged 11-19 and their parents or guardians residing in Larimer County, Weld County, or surrounding areas.
Not a fit: Patients with severe medical or psychological conditions that could interfere with their safety or ability to participate may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the health and well-being of adolescents and their families by reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success with similar community-based health interventions, indicating a promising approach to addressing chronic disease risk in youth.
