WhatsApp-delivered Radio Taiso exercises for people aged 60 and over
The Effect of the WhatsApp-Based Radio Taiso Exercise Program on Exercise Habits, Physical Performance, and Quality of Life in Individuals Aged 60 and Over
This program will try delivering short Radio Taiso exercises over WhatsApp to people aged 60–85 to see if it helps them build regular exercise habits and improves physical function and quality of life.

What this trial studies
Adults aged 60–85 will receive instructions, reminders, and exercise demonstrations for short, low-intensity Radio Taiso routines via the WhatsApp app. Participants will be asked to perform the equipment-free exercises regularly while researchers track adherence and the usability of the WhatsApp delivery. Physical performance measures and validated quality-of-life questionnaires will be collected before and after the intervention to detect changes. The study tests whether a brief, culturally adapted exercise routine delivered digitally can support habit formation and improve mobility and well-being in a Turkish older-adult population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are community-dwelling adults aged 60–85 who can walk independently (with or without assistive devices), use a smartphone with WhatsApp and internet, understand verbal instructions, and agree to participate.
Not a fit: People unlikely to benefit include those with uncontrolled cardiovascular disease, recent major orthopedic surgery (within 6 months), severe neurological disease, severe balance disorders or a history of frequent falls, or those without smartphone/internet access.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could make it easier for older adults to adopt regular, low-impact exercise at home and improve mobility, balance, and overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Previous work on low-intensity group exercise and digitally delivered physical-activity programs has shown modest improvements in adherence and function, but WhatsApp-based Radio Taiso delivery and its effects in non-Japanese populations remain minimally studied.
