What teens (11–17) and their parents think about hormone replacement for female hypogonadism
Current Knowledge and Perceptions of Hormone Replacement Therapy Among Patients Aged 11 to 18 Years, and Their Parents, Treated for Hypogonadism at the Strasbourg University Hospital
University Hospital, Strasbourg, France · NCT07315932
We will ask girls aged 11–17 with hypogonadism and their parents about their knowledge and feelings on hormone replacement therapy to see what education helps them stick with treatment.

What this trial studies
This observational project recruits female patients aged 11–17 treated at the University Hospital of Strasbourg for central or peripheral hypogonadism who have started hormone replacement therapy. Patients and their parents complete questionnaires and/or interviews about knowledge, beliefs, barriers, and practical challenges related to HRT. Responses are analyzed to identify common gaps and educational needs. The results will inform the design of therapeutic education workshops to improve understanding and adherence; no experimental treatments are administered.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are girls aged 11–17 treated at CHU Strasbourg for central or peripheral hypogonadism who have recently started hormone replacement therapy and whose parents can participate.
Not a fit: Patients who cannot understand the study information (because of language barriers, illiteracy, or cognitive difficulties) or those treated outside the recruiting center are unlikely to benefit from this single-center effort.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the project could improve patient and parent understanding of HRT and increase adherence, potentially improving clinical outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Educational interventions in other pediatric endocrine and chronic conditions have improved adherence, but specific data on adolescent perceptions of HRT are limited.
