What this trial studies

This is a one-year longitudinal observational follow-up of adult male patients diagnosed with methamphetamine-induced psychotic disorder who were medication-free for at least one month at entry. Participants were followed monthly with standardized psychometric instruments to record sociodemographic data, treatment adherence, perceived social support, insight, addiction-related clinical variables, and psychotic symptom severity. The study aimed to identify factors associated with relapse-remission patterns and symptom trajectory over time. It was conducted at Elazığ Mental Health and Diseases Hospital using prospective data collection and repeated measures analyses.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adult men aged 18 to under 65 with a DSM-5-TR diagnosis of methamphetamine-induced psychotic disorder who are medication-free for at least one month and able to give informed consent.

Not a fit: People with primary psychiatric diagnoses other than methamphetamine-induced psychosis, significant medical comorbidities listed in the exclusion criteria, alcohol use disorder, or who cannot attend monthly visits (including those outside the recruitment region) are unlikely to benefit from this protocol.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians anticipate relapse and personalize social and treatment supports to reduce symptom persistence.

How similar studies have performed: Most prior work has been cross-sectional or retrospective, so longitudinal prediction of symptom trajectories in this population is limited and this approach is relatively novel.
