What this trial studies

This intervention aims to address the childhood obesity epidemic by modifying and testing a motivational interviewing approach in pediatric primary care settings. The study will involve 49 pediatric clinics within Kaiser Permanente Southern California, where families with children aged 2-8 years and a body mass index in the 85th percentile or higher will receive wellness coaching. The goal is to create a feasible and sustainable intervention that can be easily implemented in real-world clinical settings, ultimately providing recommendations for future obesity intervention strategies. If successful, this approach could be widely adopted to help combat childhood obesity effectively.
