What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a multi-level obesity intervention called LA-CEAL CONNECT in promoting weight loss among low-income and underserved adults living with obesity in Louisiana. The study will compare this intervention to enhanced usual care to determine its impact on weight loss, waist circumference, diet quality, physical activity, quality of life, and blood pressure over 6 and 12 months. Additionally, it will assess the feasibility and sustainability of implementing the intervention in these communities. Participants will receive health coaching, culturally tailored materials, and remote monitoring to support their weight loss journey.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 75 who are living with obesity and are part of low-income or underserved communities in Louisiana.

Not a fit: Patients who are currently participating in a weight-loss program or have lost more than 10 pounds in the last 6 months may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could lead to significant weight loss and improved health outcomes for underserved populations living with obesity.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with community-engaged interventions for obesity, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
