What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a web-based documentation and advice application designed to assist elderly individuals and their informal caregivers. It is a randomized controlled trial with two groups: one receiving the web-based intervention and the other receiving standard care. The intervention aims to improve the quality of care for elderly people who require assistance with daily activities while also supporting caregivers who often face significant strain. Participants will be monitored through in-person and phone follow-up visits to assess the impact of the application on caregiving and daily living activities.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include community-dwelling individuals aged 55 and older in Upper Austria who require assistance with daily activities.
Not a fit: Patients who are planning to enter a nursing home within the next 12 weeks or have severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance the quality of care for elderly individuals and reduce the burden on their caregivers.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of web-based applications for caregiver support is gaining interest, this specific approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in similar studies.
