What this trial studies
This is a feasibility and acceptability evaluation of the group-based "Take Your Sexuality Back" psychoeducational intervention for adults with a history of sexual trauma. Participants will take part in the group program and complete quantitative outcome measures to explore potential efficacy signals. After the intervention, researchers will conduct in-depth qualitative interviews to capture participants' experiences and identify needed modifications. The results will be used to refine the intervention and plan a larger randomized controlled trial and possible implementation in clinical services.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18–65 with a history of sexual trauma who are experiencing trauma-related sexual problems, have sufficient Norwegian language skills to participate in a psychoeducational group, and do not meet exclusion criteria such as acute suicidality, severe substance abuse, severe dissociative or psychotic disorders, a current life crisis, or living in an abusive relationship.
Not a fit: People who are currently suicidal, have severe substance abuse that interferes with treatment, severe dissociative or psychotic disorders, an active life crisis, or who are living in an abusive relationship are unlikely to benefit from this group intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help people who have experienced sexual trauma regain sexual well-being, reduce trauma-related sexual problems, and improve quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Group-based psychoeducational approaches for trauma-related sexual problems have some promising elements but are not yet well-established, so this approach is relatively novel and requires further testing.
