Virtual reality with nature scenes to reduce pain and anxiety during endometrial biopsy
The Effect of Virtual Reality Glasess Application on Pain and Anxiety in Women Undergoing Endometrial Biopsy:A Randomized Controlled Research
NA · Ondokuz Mayıs University · NCT06961097

What this trial studies
Women presenting for endometrial biopsy at the radiology clinic will be screened, consented, and randomized using block randomization to either a virtual reality group or routine care. The virtual reality group will wear VR glasses showing nature images with accompanying sounds during the procedure in addition to standard care, while the control group will receive the routine procedure alone. Adults over 18 who speak Turkish and consent are eligible, and those who decline or do not speak Turkish are excluded. Pain and anxiety will be measured before and after the procedure using standard patient-reported scales.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adult women (18+) who speak Turkish, are scheduled for an endometrial biopsy at Ondokuz Mayıs University, and are willing to give written informed consent.
Not a fit: People who cannot tolerate virtual reality (for example due to motion sickness or discomfort), who do not speak Turkish, or who are unwilling to consent are unlikely to participate or benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the VR intervention could reduce pain and anxiety during endometrial biopsy and improve patient comfort during the procedure.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies using virtual reality for minor procedures and outpatient gynecologic settings have often reduced pain and anxiety, but evidence specifically for endometrial biopsy is limited.
