What this trial studies

This study focuses on using virtual reality technology to enhance rehabilitation for individuals suffering from anomic aphasia, a condition characterized by difficulty in word retrieval. The approach is based on the Embodied Cognition framework, which posits that language and motor functions are interconnected. Participants will engage in training that stimulates both their language abilities and motor skills, aiming to strengthen the link between word meanings and their corresponding actions. The intervention includes the use of 360-degree videos and standard videos to facilitate this rehabilitation process.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals who have experienced a naming disorder due to an acute neurological event at least six months prior and have undergone initial rehabilitation.

Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing neurological or psychiatric conditions, epilepsy, balance disorders, or neglect may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve language recovery and communication abilities in patients with anomic aphasia.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of virtual reality in rehabilitation is gaining traction, this specific application within the context of anomic aphasia is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
