What this trial studies

This randomized controlled trial compares a non-invasive virtual reality mindfulness intervention to standard care for patients undergoing fertility-related surgeries. Participants aged 18–50 will be randomized to receive VR-based guided mindfulness sessions in the perioperative period or usual preoperative care, with measures taken before and after the procedure. Primary outcomes include anxiety levels, with secondary outcomes of pain perception, recovery duration, and overall patient satisfaction. Exclusion criteria include a history of motion sickness, significant cognitive or psychological conditions, or emergency procedures.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18–50 who are scheduled for fertility-related surgical procedures and can provide informed consent are the ideal candidates for this intervention.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of motion sickness or VR intolerance, those with cognitive or significant psychiatric conditions, or those requiring emergency procedures are unlikely to benefit or be eligible.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the intervention could lower preoperative anxiety and related pain, shorten recovery time, and improve overall patient experience during fertility care.

How similar studies have performed: Previous perioperative and procedural VR studies have shown reductions in anxiety and pain in other settings, though fertility-specific evidence is limited.
