What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of virtual reality-based exercises on postural stability, depressive symptoms, and anxiety in patients who have suffered lower extremity burns. Participants will engage in a Wii Fit program for 30 minutes, combined with standard physical therapy for 60 minutes, three times a week over a 12-week period. The study aims to address both the physical and psychological challenges faced by burn survivors, particularly focusing on improving balance and reducing anxiety and depression. By integrating technology into rehabilitation, the study seeks to enhance overall recovery outcomes for these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 35 to 55 with a significant lower extremity burn and low physical activity levels.
Not a fit: Patients with inhalation injuries, leg amputations, or significant psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the mental and physical well-being of patients recovering from severe burns.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on virtual reality for burn rehabilitation, similar approaches in other areas have shown promising results.
