What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of a home-based exercise program compared to a personalized immersive virtual reality exergaming program (Fit-XR) on physical fitness and activity levels in adolescents diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Participants will engage in either the Fit-XR program, which involves 25-30 minutes of exercise two days a week for eight weeks under physiotherapist supervision, or a tailored home-based exercise regimen. The study aims to assess improvements in functional capacity and overall physical fitness through these interventions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 13-18 with a confirmed diagnosis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis for at least six months.

Not a fit: Patients who have recently been diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis or have conditions that severely limit their ability to exercise may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could enhance physical fitness and functional capacity in adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the specific use of immersive virtual reality in this context, similar approaches in physical rehabilitation have shown promising results.
