What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of virtual dietary education delivered by dietitians for patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It aims to address the challenges of accessing dietary interventions by utilizing eHealth technology, including one-on-one consultations and group sessions. The study focuses on patients experiencing recurrent abdominal pain and aims to improve their quality of life through dietary management. By providing evidence-based dietary advice virtually, the study seeks to fill the gap in current IBS treatment options.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals experiencing recurrent abdominal pain associated with IBS who are willing to change their diet and have access to a device for virtual education.
Not a fit: Patients with new onset symptoms, rectal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, unexplained recent weight loss, or a history of gastrointestinal surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the management of IBS symptoms and enhance the quality of life for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using virtual dietary interventions for IBS, indicating that this approach may be effective.
