What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effects of structured exercise and video game-based therapies on individuals with pes planus, or flat feet. A total of 69 participants aged 18-25 will undergo various assessments, including balance and muscle strength measurements, before and after a treatment program. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups, each receiving different therapeutic interventions, including traditional exercises and Wii-based gaming therapies, supervised by a physiotherapist over six weeks. The goal is to determine the effectiveness of these innovative approaches in improving functional outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18-25 diagnosed with flexible pes planus and a navicular drop greater than 10 mm.
Not a fit: Patients with other foot or lower extremity issues, orthopedic or neurological problems, or those who have received prior treatment for pes planus may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a fun and engaging way to rehabilitate individuals with flat feet, potentially improving their mobility and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of video games in rehabilitation is gaining traction, this specific application for pes planus is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
