What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the use of a video classification index (VCI) for predicting and managing difficult intubation cases in surgical patients across Spain. It focuses on improving airway management protocols by utilizing videolaryngoscopy and a scoring system to enhance the standard of care. The study will involve patients undergoing scheduled surgeries over a six-month period, assessing the effectiveness of the VCI in real clinical settings. The findings could contribute to better training and preparedness for anesthesiologists facing difficult airway scenarios.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 18 and older who are scheduled for surgery at participating hospitals in Spain.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved safety and outcomes for patients undergoing anesthesia by better predicting difficult intubation cases.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar approaches in improving airway management, indicating that this methodology is promising.
