What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a video-based exercise program called 'Bliib fit - mach mit!' in enhancing physical fitness among older adults residing in residential care facilities. Participants will engage in the exercise program four times a week for 12 weeks, with each session lasting 20 minutes. The study will compare the outcomes of this video-based program against a standard caregiver-led activation program, focusing on improvements in physical fitness, quality of life, perceived fall risk, self-efficacy, and daily physical activity levels.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adults living in residential care facilities who are physically and cognitively able to follow exercise instructions and have a low to moderate risk of falling.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to speak or understand German, have a high risk of falling, or possess unstable health conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the physical fitness and overall quality of life for older adults in residential care.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar video-based exercise interventions for older adults, indicating potential for success in this approach.
