What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of vergence exercises in patients who have experienced long-term visual symptoms following a concussion, specifically focusing on those with convergence insufficiency. A total of 100 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the exercises or a placebo treatment to assess improvements in eye coordination and related symptoms. The goal is to provide evidence that can guide clinicians in treating visual disturbances associated with concussions. The study aims to clarify the role of targeted exercises in managing these symptoms.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who have experienced a concussion at least three months prior and have not been previously diagnosed with convergence insufficiency.
Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing eye diseases or those unable to complete the baseline examination may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a non-invasive treatment option for patients suffering from visual symptoms related to concussion.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on this specific approach, similar interventions targeting visual symptoms post-concussion have shown promise in other studies.
