What this trial studies

This single-blind, parallel-arm randomized trial will enroll 48 adults having uroflowmetry and assign them to either a structured brochure or standard verbal counseling. Anxiety will be measured with the modified Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS-M) and satisfaction with a questionnaire adapted from Dogun et al. Outcomes will be compared between groups using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and independent t-tests analyzed in SPSS 23. The intervention is low-risk and focuses on changing how information is delivered before the procedure.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older undergoing uroflowmetry for the first time who can hear, read, and understand Urdu or English are eligible.

Not a fit: People with known psychiatric illness, significant neurological impairment affecting comprehension, language barriers, or who cannot produce adequate urine volume after attempts are unlikely to benefit from this educational intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, a simple brochure could lower patient anxiety and increase satisfaction with uroflowmetry using an inexpensive, easy-to-implement approach.

How similar studies have performed: Some prior work suggests structured information or trained staff can improve satisfaction with urological and other outpatient procedures, but randomized data specific to uroflowmetry are limited.
