What this trial studies

This study aims to develop and validate the Italian version of the State Urge to be Physically Active Questionnaire (SUPAQ-I) for patients with eating disorders. It will assess the reliability, validity, and sensitivity to change of the SUPAQ-I using a mixed-longitudinal design, with evaluations conducted at admission and discharge. The study focuses on individuals aged 16-65 diagnosed with eating disorders, particularly Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa, which have high mortality rates. The SUPAQ-I will help in understanding the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of physical activity urges in these patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 16-65 with a diagnosis of an eating disorder according to DSM-5 criteria.

Not a fit: Patients with severe psychopathologies other than eating disorders or other unrelated pathologies may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a validated tool to better assess and address physical activity urges in patients with eating disorders, leading to improved treatment outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the SUPA-Q has been validated in other contexts, this specific validation for the Italian population is a novel approach.
