What this trial studies

This study aims to validate the effectiveness of existing termination-of-resuscitation (TOR) rules for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients in various Asian countries. It will assess whether these rules, developed in Western contexts, are applicable to the unique characteristics of Asian populations, which may differ in terms of emergency medical services and patient demographics. The study will include non-traumatic, traumatic, and pediatric OHCA patients and evaluate factors that could influence the performance of these TOR rules.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Asian countries.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those with obvious signs of death or do-not-resuscitate orders will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve decision-making in emergency medical services, potentially leading to better patient outcomes in OHCA cases.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on TOR rules in Western contexts, this study is novel as it seeks to validate these rules specifically for Asian populations.
