What this trial studies
This clinical trial explores the use of virtual reality as a health support tool for older adults living in residences. Participants will engage in five training sessions to learn how to use a virtual reality headset, focusing on activities that promote physical and cognitive engagement. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of virtual reality in maintaining health and to identify the support needs of elderly individuals in using this technology. Two different support modalities will be tested to compare their effectiveness in helping participants integrate virtual reality into their routines.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are independent older adults residing in the sponsor's retirement home.
Not a fit: Patients with pacemakers or those at risk for epilepsy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the physical and cognitive well-being of elderly residents through engaging virtual reality experiences.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of virtual reality in healthcare is emerging, this specific application for elderly residents is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
