What this trial studies

This study investigates the use of virtual reality (VR) environments to alleviate pain and anxiety in elderly patients undergoing medical procedures. Patients will choose their preferred VR setting, which may include relaxing landscapes or other calming environments, and will be monitored during their treatment. The trial aims to assess the effectiveness of personalized VR interventions compared to usual care in managing stress during medical procedures. Assessments will be conducted before and after the treatment to evaluate the impact of the VR experience on both patients and caregivers.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are men and women over 60 years old who are receiving routine care and are affiliated with Social Security.

Not a fit: Patients with visual or auditory disorders that prevent the use of a VR headset, unstable epilepsy, acute psychiatric disorders, or those considered part of a vulnerable population may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the comfort and overall experience of elderly patients during medical procedures.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using virtual reality for pain and anxiety management, indicating that this approach is gaining traction in clinical settings.
