What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) guided exercises for patients suffering from chronic knee osteoarthritis. By utilizing a three-dimensional computer-aided program, the study aims to enhance patient motivation and adherence to rehabilitation through immersive VR experiences. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a VR intervention group or a conventional rehabilitation group, allowing for a comparison of outcomes related to pain and quality of life. The study seeks to contribute valuable data on the potential benefits of VR in orthopedic rehabilitation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 40-85 with chronic knee osteoarthritis and a Kellgren and Lawrence Score of 2 or higher.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone orthopedic surgery on the lower extremity or have cognitive dysfunction may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve pain management and quality of life for patients with knee osteoarthritis.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success in using virtual reality for rehabilitation in other conditions, indicating potential for effectiveness in this novel application.
